Section and floor plan 5 and 6

I will try to put some furniture and people tomorrow.
Some explaination
-We can clearly see the left building has a big open space in the Lobby straight up to the 8 floors.
-First and second floors are for public space such as theater, lounge, bookstore, food and cafe.
-All of my room locate on 3,4 and 7,8 floors.
-I use inside space of the 5,6 floors for lounge, game room, dinning hall. I also give them outside door around the buildings.
-On the top left of the building are relax spaces/ I build a small courtyard in middle. On the right side is gym/ fitness room.

Here is my floor 5 and 6(the dash line show that is under level on 5 floor)

  1. Hi,

The section is getting there, but it still does not have a lot of life to it. It feels like I am looking at a stack of pancakes, a major mistake most students make, sections need to be more dynamic, but I understand this is still being developed. Look at sections by Kahn, Renzo Piano, Rem Koolhaas or Steven Holl for inspiration. Lastly, the space at the entry with the revolving doors looks a bit underdeveloped in proportion or more residual, is this on purpose? Perhaps this will look better once you do opening...

  2. Trung, I am glad to see that you are working hard at this. But I agree. Your section needs to come to life. Also keep in mind that walls are never the same thickness as the walls. Your building needs to function, just like a human body. Where is he plumbing, HVAC, structure going? You do not need to show the mechanical , but you need to accommodate for it. Also the building needs to stand up.

Keep working at it. You are making great progress.

  3. Also make sure there are windows and doors. How do I use the fire exits?

  4. An overlay of a structure grid would help organize your project. Doors and windows need to be shown. The different floors are differentiated by the width, but in the public floors there could be something exciting happening in the ceiling to help reduce the "pancake" flatness. People and furniture will help, but still it 10' high stacked pancakes.
