Real scale study model (continue)

I made this model from the rhino files in last post. This building will sit on the entire side in Brooklyn. .
The right side of this picture will face the water
 But my Professor. Jill doesn't like the llat roof(big box) in the right object so I made some change to it

Real scale Concept Model on site.

This is my first try. This model show something drop down to water and the walls shows the water ring flow out from center.
The second one based on the connection collage and study model about it.
I develop the second idea on rhino to get the last one.







Concept Models

Base on the collage I made those concept models.
Impression.
These three models based on the collage about impression of the site in Brooklyn. Which are bridge, water, brick wall and small streets.
 
 The abstract of the bridge.
The stone drop to the water and its reflection while the water flowing around.
The brick walla nd some small streets around the site.
Connection.
These three models based on the collage about Connection. How things can connect with each other.
Dormitory.
These three models based on the collage dormitory which shows abstract of knowledge/book, active, and healthy life.

History of the Site

Mannahatta - 1609

Prior to the colonists arriving, Manhattan's SOHO was a lush forest land with meadows and streams.

Montesor Map - 1775

Dutch settlers have come in and created farms and plantations.

Poppleton Map - 1817

 The land began to develop further with the influx of wealthy settlers. Business were on the rise, including theaters and stores.

Little Singer

During the Industrial Revolution, several manufacturing companies, textiles in particuar, moved in.

Gunther Building

Today, the neighborhood is known as the Cast-Iron capital of the world. Since it has the largest collection of cast-iron buildings. These buildings were revitalized and created into artist's lofts. Presently, these properties are among the most expensive in NYC.



Manhattan Site - Empty Lot
According to the NYC Department of buildings, in the 1970s it was owned by Katz Auto Imports Inc. Later on through the years it was sold to different private owners. Presently it's owned by Sullivan Condo LLC.
